Your Questions About Cheap Car Insurance For 17 Year Olds Quotes

Lisa asks…

Should I buy a VW Bora or a Vauxhall Astra for my first car?

In general, what do you think is the better car.

The VW Bora (2001) is in the 1.6 16V guise,

Or I can get an Astra Mk 4 with the 1.4 16V or the 1.6 8V.

The insurance quote for the Astra is £1240, with the Bora being £1420.

What would you recommend I get? The Bora is more desirable, but the Astra is cheaper.

I have a budge of £1000 to buy my first car and these both fit in comfortably. I like the Bora for being a Saloon and not a typical car for a 17 year old to get, but the Astra for being common for it’s parts etc.

Administrator answers:

Those insurance quotes are around half what they should be at least – I suspect that you are attempting to get a parent to front them or that is the price BEFORE you pass a test – you need to check

Richard asks…

Cheap car insurance for a 17 year old male.? [:?

I have already asked this question on here but i got answers that were completely on the wrong side of what I’m looking for. I got told to go to different comparison sites to find cheap deals. Which is not what I want. The answers I was looking for was more along the lines of, lowering insurance by adding parents as named driver and so on.
I did this with the car im looking to buy (Seat Ibiza 1.2 Group 2 insurance.) With my dad as a named driver on TPFT insurance, and i got quoted £1400 a year. Yet people with cars higher than that can get comprehensive insurance for less than £1000 a year. So what I’m asking is, How the hell do they do it.?

Administrator answers:

The cheapest option for a minor living at home is always to be added to a parents policy. If they are quoting you higher prices than your friends, your friends have less of a risk factor, either the parents driving record and accident record is better than your parents record, or they live in an area deemed safer for accidents and/or theft. Rural is less than middle of a city, etc.

Mary asks…

Can I go on my Mothers Insurance that easy?

Well I’m 17 I’ve just started my driving lessons but I have done insurance quotes on even the cheapest of cars! (Old classic Mini, Vauxhall corsa + many more) and it is averaging out to be like £5000+ Per year for the insurance which is way out of my budget,

However my mum did an insurance quote on a car (Proposer & 1 other driver) and it was £900 a year, she would do that policy if I gave her the money + would I have to give any other details rather than just ( & 1 other driver?) or not?

Administrator answers:

As said you would be committing fraud, your insurance would be void, your car will be seized if found out along with 6 points and both yourself and your mother will be prosecuted for fraud.

If you are the main driver you must tell the insurance company. The reason it is so high for young drivers is because of among other things people are fronting.
