Your Questions About New Driver Car Insurance Cost

James asks…

Can I drive a classic car as a daily driver while it has collector car insurance?

I want to purchase a 1966 Chevrolet Impala and I found one in my area for a really good price. My mom’s boyfriend knows how to work on older cars so repairs and labor costs wouldn’t be an issue (unless it’d be something he can’t do with his hands like taking the engine out or something) and I am a senior in high school and live about a mile from my school (I know it’s not far, but walking through inclement weather or on slippery sidewalks is a hassle sometimes). Can I use a classic car as a daily driver while it has collector car insurance or would I have to insure it with regular car insurance?
This would not be my first car because I drive my dad’s car when he’s home. This would be my own car that I’d use whenever I want to

Administrator answers:

Regular insurance and plates my friend, classic insurance is limited to non daily use and a mileage limit,

Carol asks…

How much does London Minicab can earn before costs / week?

Hi,
I was wondering, how much roughly can London Minicab driver earn before costs (car, fuel, insurance, tax) / week?
Assuming working around 50-60 hours / week?

Administrator answers:

It very much depends on base location, time of day, quality of clients, and the number of drivers on the same shift. There are busy moments and there are moments when you might wait an hour or more for a local fare. You’ll soon get to know the lucrative hours in your location… You can expect to take around £150 – £200 for a 10hr shift, more on a weekend if you’re prepared to work late to around 3am (again, depends on location). Don’t forget to include radio rental charges… That’s going to be around £120 a week give or take £50.

Steven asks…

How much will car insurance cost me, roughly (teen driver)?

I’m a 16 year-old girl, and I’m planning on buying my first car by the time I’m 17. I’m looking for an older car, nothing fancy, just to get around in. I’m also planning on taking Drivers’ Ed. My grades are decent too, if that really matters. Do you have any idea what I’m looking at here?

Administrator answers:

It depends on what state/province you live in, and where in that state/province you live (rural areas tend to be cheaper than urban areas).

Robert asks…

can an insurance company pay cash instead of for rental car?

Hello,

A drunk driver crashed into my parked car and his insurance company is paying to get my car fixed and for the rental car. He (ie his insurance) is liable for all costs. I am wondering if it is possible to get a cash payout for the rental car so I can either do it in my own free time at any company or borrow a car. Are there any legal/ethical issues with this? What do I say to the insurance saying I would like to cost of the rental car in a check. It is GMC insurance.

Thanks so much.

Administrator answers:

Not in most cases unless you can’t rent a vehicle. For instance if you’re too young or live in a remote area where there are no rental cars.
You’ll have to speak to the insurance company for their answer. Even if they do agree to a cash out, it wouldn’t be as much as the cost of a rental car. You may get $10/day, if that.

Lisa asks…

What is the average cost of insurance for a teenage driver per year?

I’m 17, and I’m going to get my provisional license in about a month. Mg r y parents are going to have me pay for my own insurance. I just wanted to get a look at roughly how much my insurance will cost before I get a quote. Thanks!

Administrator answers:

Depending on the car you drive…anywhere from $125 – $200 per month for VERY basic liability coverage. If you want YOUR car insured…..double that.

Chris asks…

What is the price of car insurance for a 16 year old on their parent’s insurance?

I do not own a car, I’d be driving my mother’s. I want to know if i’d be able to help pay for it because I have two jobs.

Administrator answers:

Your mother will have to add you to her policy as an authorized driver. The cost will depend upon many factors, including your age (hurts you badly), gender (helps you, but not enough to offset the hit on age), your driving record, whether you completed Driver’s Ed, your grades in school, the type of car, how much driving you do, whether you are the primary driver on any vehicles, etc. It can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars per year.

I’m sure that your mom would appreciate some help with the added expense. Just work it out with her.

Susan asks…

If you get caught in the state of California, driving without an insurance, what is the fine you have to pay?

I have been driving my car without insurance, and I am afraid of being stop by the police for a minor thing. And being asked for insurance. I dont have insurance because it is too expensive for me and I dont have the money. I need to drive my car everyday to college but I cant afford to pay for an insurance. I want to know, how much money if have to pay if I am caught.

Administrator answers:

You know, that is the least of your worries. Who gives a damn what the fine is, look at what it can really cost you. Have an accident, write off your car, write off the other car, and severely injure the driver, a young engineer, or surgeon, and you will be sued for hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you lose one of those suits, you will be paying for the rest of your life, and won’t be able to bankrupt yourself out of it. There is no such thing as not being able to afford insurance to drive, you can’t afford to drive without it. Park your car and take the bus.
But if you insist on knowing, the MINIMUM fine is $500, court costs, and probable seizure of plates and impound of vehicle. If you have any kind of accident and have no insurance, your licence is also suspended.
Then, like others, you are back in here saying “help!”.
